New York, NY, September 3, 2021 – American Express (NYSE: AXP) has committed $300,000 to support disaster relief efforts for communities across the United States impacted by Hurricane Ida and the California wildfires.
Hurricane Ida
Hurricane Ida brought catastrophic wind damage, rain, flooding, and dangerous tornadoes to the Gulf Coast and the Northeast. American Express is donating $200,000 to the American Red Cross and $50,000 to Feeding America to meet the immediate needs of those who have been injured or displaced, and to support local relief efforts and provide temporary shelter and meals for first responders and affected communities.
California Wildfires
Devastating wildfires in California have destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses and forced citizens across the state to evacuate. American Express will donate $50,000 to the American Red Cross to support rescue and relief efforts related to the fires.
