DALLAS – Celanese Corporation, a global specialty materials and chemical company, has been named to Newsweek’s 2023 list of America’s Most Responsible Companies. The annual recognition, acknowledging the top 500 most responsible companies in the United States across 14 industries and honors corporations that “are serious about being good corporate citizens.”
“Responsibility is a major part of our core values, so being honored as one of America’s most responsible companies feels both rewarding and validating,” said Lori Ryerkerk, Celanese chairman, chief executive officer and president. “I’m particularly proud of the recognition of our social focus, knowing our employee culture is driven by our vision to improve the world and everyday life. We know we are doing something great here at Celanese, and I’m delighted others outside the company recognize it too.”
America’s Most Responsible Companies were selected based on publicly available key performance indicators derived from sustainability reports and corporate social responsibility reports, as well as an independent survey. The review of the reports focused on company performance in the environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) areas, while the independent survey asked U.S. citizens about their perception of company activities related to corporate social responsibility.
“Celanese has taken an intentional approach to sustainability that continues to drive ESG initiatives across our global enterprise,” said A. Lynne Puckett, Celanese senior vice president and ESG executive sponsor. “Our focus on making a difference guides our investments in our operations, our employees and our communities and we look forward to continuing to develop ways for Celanese to contribute to a more sustainable future.”
From the thousands of companies considered for this honor, only 500 made the final list. Celanese is ranked 138th overall, 18th in the Materials and Chemicals industry, and 5th in the Social category.
